C.U.B.A. is a collaborative performance by San Francisco based artist Cristina Victor and New York based artist Shaun El. C Leonardo. Hollywood produced several films in the 1940s that aimed to portray cultural alliances to Latin America also known as the Good Neighbor Policy era. These portrayals consistently reveal stereotyping of Latino identity still prevalent today in entertainment media. The scene mimicked by Victor and Leonardo, from the 1946 film Blue Skies, plays with the power of mimicry, parody, embodiment and staging related to the portrayal of Latino identity.
